About Marek Leavenworth

Marek Leavenworth is a photographer, videographer, and graphic designer based in Bend, Oregon, whose work explores stillness, reflection, and the fleeting nature of beauty. With a decade of experience capturing both grand landscapes and intimate moments, Marek’s art reveals the extraordinary within the everyday, often using light, contrast, and composition to guide the viewer’s eye with intention and emotion.

Rooted in the Pacific Northwest, Marek draws much of his inspiration from the natural world. His work has been described as both captivating and thoughtful, depicting vast, moody environments with bursts of color or light that feel almost unreal in their timing. Whether it's a glowing sunset at Smith Rock or a mist-covered peak, his images often feel like split-second glimpses into moments that will never occur again.

Marek’s visual language is shaped by his formal studies in photography, cinematography, and design, which he continues to refine through his Bachelor of Arts in Arts, Media, and Technology at Oregon State University–Cascades. His portfolio includes commissioned work, published pieces in Bend Magazine and Travel Oregon, and finalist honors in the international Shoot & Share Photography Contest.

Through his creative brand, Leavenworth Studios, Marek produces landscape, portrait, toy, and narrative-driven photography and video projects. His design background brings a refined sensibility to each piece, whether balancing editorial compositions, layering stories in post-production, or experimenting with motion graphics and effects.

Artist Statement

My work revolves around the idea of impermanence–capturing moments that are not only fleeting but often overlooked. I’m drawn to the interplay between stillness and movement, and how those tensions shape the way we experience space, time, and memory. Whether I’m shooting a remote landscape, an architectural shadow, or an abstract blur, I aim to evoke a mood rather than dictate a meaning.

I believe photography and video are not just about documentation, but about interpretation. Through framing, contrast, and post-production, I try to shape a visual experience that invites pause, curiosity, and emotional response. Influenced by nature, storytelling, and design, my goal is to engage the viewer in a way that makes the ordinary feel awe-inspiring–and perhaps even sacred.
